Prezzee's growth recognised in AFR’s Fast Starters!
We’re thrilled to announce Prezzee has ranked at number 51 in the 2020 Australian Financial Review’s Fast Starters published today, joining the ranks koala and Modibodi who have also made the list today.
Prezzee was also recently recognised in the Deloitte APAC Fast 500, ranking as the 55th fastest growing company in the Asia Pacific region, and the 5th Australian company on the list.
During FY2019, Aussies sent a whopping 701,532 Prezzee gift cards, and our hard-working and dedicated Prezzee team has grown from 11 people to 21, and now 31 today. It’s hard to believe the first Prezzee gift card was sent on 7th December 2015 when we launched our iOS App. It feels like yesterday, yet so much has happened!
Prezzee was founded to solve two problems…forgetting gift cards and unnecessary pieces of plastic that go to landfill. What we didn’t quite know when we launched, with just 7 retailers on board (thank you Myer, JB HiFi, Cue, Veronika Maine, Kathmandu, Oxfam & Dick Smith), but are seeing now, is the rapid cultural shift around gift giving. No longer do Aussies view gift cards as a last minute gift. Instead, they are often the first choice - the person receiving the gift can choose exactly what they want, plastic doesn’t need to be produced, and everyone tells us they prefer to send and receive gift cards rather than give unwanted gifts that end up in landfill.
These sentiments are being echoed around the world: in December, we launched UK, US, and New Zealand gift cards on prezzee.com.au and we’re seeing exciting new growth in those markets as expats in Australia send gift cards back home, hassle free and with no fees attached.
A big milestone for us was the 2016 launch of our own Prezzee Smart eGift Card: the 1 gift card that turns into 100s of brands. We’ve grown from those first 7 retailers to over 130 now (too many to name, thank you ALL of you!) so wanted our customers to have the biggest choice they possibly could.
The corporate gifting market has also been a huge part of our growth. We launched Prezzee Business on 30 August 2016 with our first corporate customer. The next day, we had two more, then 11 more corporate clients signing up in the next 4 weeks. Now, we have thousands of Australian businesses choosing to reward and recognise teams with gift vouchers at the press of a button.
Where to from here? We’ll continue to focus on offering the best experience we can to all our gift givers and their recipients. Soon you’ll see changes big and small as we improve our website and our apps to make gift giving faster and easier than ever before.
We wouldn’t be here without you, our loyal customers, our wonderful network of partners and suppliers, and the entire Prezzee team so thank you to all: you have been, and continue to be, critical to our success. The months ahead are going to be really tough for Aussies and our friends around the world as we face coronavirus, so please feel our heartfelt message of love and support to you all. Let’s all get through it together.
With the very best wishes,
The whole team at Prezzee
