The Ripple Effect

At Prezzee we are passionate about keeping our oceans clean. The Australian Start-Up team Sea Bin Project have designed a rubbish bin that catches floating rubbish, oil, fuel and detergents. Further afield, the Dutch initiative The Ocean Clean Up is designing a floating network of barriers that can extract plastic for recycling. It claims that a single Ocean Cleanup Array can clean up half the Great Pacific Garbage Patch in 10 years time. Sounds great!

More locally, the team at Boomerang Alliance are doing a stellar job with their Cash for Containers campaign. Did you know that every minute 15,000 bottles and cans are littered or landfilled in Australia?  For decades Australia has been without this initiative (with the exception of South Australia, go guys!). However, on 21 February 2015 it was announced that NSW would begin a CDS on 1 July 2017. This is a great move forward and the Boomerang team have worked hard to make this happen. Their overall aim is to create a healthy pollution free environment for all to enjoy by promoting maximum resource efficiency and zero waste.

Last but not least the stunning campaign from Conservation International really caught our eye. In this series of short videos, Julia Roberts is Mother Nature, Liam Neeson is Ice, Harrison Ford is the Ocean. Please check out and share if you love them as much as we do.

We realise that not all business models fit the ability to be green. We do feel that many ripples make a big wave. Our commitment to only sell digital Gift Cards and not plastic Gift Cards is only a small gesture in the large picture but if we all take small steps to minimise plastic and waste, we can make a great difference together.
